Wired for Wellness.

Time to re-wire.

Welcome to wired for wellness Wednesday! My new series about all things mind mastery. How we can optimize our minds to maximize joy, wellness and growth. Oh and fun of course.

The truth is - my main priority in my life is health and happiness. If I find myself in a space that doesn’t make me happy, best believe I am immediately taking action steps towards getting out of that space. I refuse to stay anywhere that I am not having a literal ball. This is the right that everyone has, but very few people actually exercise.

And it is entirely by design.

It’s science.

Our brains’ default setting is to be scared of anything unfamiliar. The only function of our brain is to keep us alive. Survival is what our brains are maaadddeeeee for. (Not health or happiness. There is a difference. I’ll explain in a sec.) Anything that is registered as unfamiliar, is registered as a big, fat “no no” in the body. Even if that unfamiliar thing is ultimately better for our long term wellness and happiness. We have negative bodily reactions to situations that the brain deems as dangerous. And, for the brain, unfamiliar = hella dangerous.

So how does this manifest into our daily lives? Let’s say you had the goal to eat really clean this week because you kind of wilded out on Halloween with liquor and chocolate. hehe. When the time comes to have lunch and you are faced with the option between the left over pizza in your fridge or making a salad with grilled chicken, you reflexively reach for the pizza. When you don’t pause to determine if your choices are aligned with your higher self or your lower self, you will always default to lower self. Because this is what your brain has made your body more comfortable with. What is crazy is that this neural process happens every second of your life, in every choice that you make. If you don’t get intentional with your choices you will keep following the exact same pattern that you’ve always followed. I call this auto-pilot mode and most people live here.

Auto-pilot is a loop. You make a decision by default and then you beat yourself up for making that decision, then you self-soothe with something that makes you feel less bad, but only for a little while and then you beat yourself up for that! Living in auto-pilot mode causes you needless suffering.

The only way to break the loop is through intentional action. Taking the action that is definitely less comfortable, but will make you happier in the wake of it. Making the choice that your higher self makes. Each time that you catch yourself before defaulting into an auto-pilot decision, you put a little crack in the matrix. Each time you make a choice with intention, you starve the ego just a little. (The goal is to starve it to literal death.)

Pausing and determining if a choice is serving you or not is how you live consciously. Intentional action > reaction.

When we make conscious choices from the place of the higher self, we begin rewiring our brains. We are letting our brains know, little by little, that expansion is safe. That going down the path of the higher self is safe.

Next week I will get into more practical ways to deconstruct and rewire.

I am on a personal journey to live as the embodiment of my highest self as often as possible. It takes effort and intention everyday. I am no where close to where I want to be yet but I know what direction I am heading.
